Marcela Batistic

Born in Argentina, my first path was aeronautics, a profession that allowed me to travel the world. These trips became a transformative experience, since in each destination I found an excuse to immerse myself in museums, galleries and cultural spaces. It was there, among the works and silences of Europe, where a second vocation awakened in me: art.

Painting came as a way to channel that deep connection with beauty, history and emotion. In 2005 I began training in Alicia de Sousa’s workshop, later continuing with Rebeca Mendoza and later with Vivi Julliand, who accompanied me in my first exhibitions.

In 2009 I started the Experimental Techniques course with Marco Otero, and continued exploring new visual languages with the artist Gloria Seeber at Atelier 40 Espacio de Arte. Between 2010 and 2015, I studied Art History with Lic. Daniela Pisarev, graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid. With it I managed to understand and integrate into my work what I had admired in the great European museums.

Later, I participated in contemporary art clinics, painting and technique workshops, in the Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts Association, as well as in their summer courses in Buenos Aires.

Today painting is my way of living and expressing the world.

"Marcela Batistic: "Painting as breathing" The works of Marcela Batistic tell nothing, and yet they say a lot. There are no figures, there is no story. "Marcela Batistic's work begins in a Whole, where the parts merge, intermingle and link together over time. Since its beginnings, the work produces a great mutation of concepts, palettes, style, currents, but above all Technique. The different techniques and materials used emerge from the almost always Abstract figures and forms, which make a pure composition, at first almost geometric, passing through textured stains of matter, to thick textures with heavy materials and the current fine ones, with docile materials such as inks that run in full washes, full of ethereal figures that walk without limit, forming unconscious stains, which bring real objects to the eye of the observer. Marcela has been painting series since the beginning. Passing through Abstract skies, geometric compositions, heavy seas of matter and soft waters. Hard shapes, with mixed and flat materials. "Marcela Batistic is a plastic artist with extensive experience in the world of painting. She has trained with renowned artists and teachers such as Rebeca Mendoza and Vivi Julliand. He has held numerous exhibitions at the National and International level. Some of the creative triggers for Marcela's works have been painters of the stature of Picasso, Sorolla, or Tapies. An image, a fragment of a well-known work, a photograph, or even a landscape can be the inspiration to create your magnificent series of Abstract Landscapes. The stain is almost always the protagonist. A stain with strength, with movement, that defines and takes over the canvas. A textured line, where different materials have been worked with such as gesso, salt, sand, making the color and the brushstroke speak and invite the viewer to be part of the composition. Her series tell us that we are facing a mature artist who works with colors and stains until they are exhausted and then begins a new series.
